Applicant Terms and Conditions

All applicants are deemed to have accepted the following terms and conditions when they submit their applications:

1. Eligibility for Participation in the AIA
  • Only fourth and fifth year engineering students who are officially registered at the University of Jordan or the Jordan University for Science and Technology are eligible to apply for participation in the AIA either as individuals or as a group of students.
2. Submission for Participation
  • All interested and eligible students can register for participation through the AIA’s Website (www.abdaliaward.jo), either by filling the required information in the registration area, or by downloading the registration form, filling relevant sections, and sending it as an attachment to the following e-mail submission@abdaliaward.jo
  • Applications submitted should be written in English and need to be comprehensive, well written and understood, and within the word count allowed for each section of the submission form.
  • Submitted Projects will be students’ final graduation Projects.
  • The selected theme should be directly reflected in the project
3. Committees
    Steering Committee
  • The steering committee will be responsible for approving and selecting the participants, processing requests, payments of financial support for proposed student projects, monitoring, follow up, and evaluating the progress of students' projects. The steering committee will also select members of the Jury committee.
    Jury Committee
  • The Jury committee members are responsible for developing the guidelines of choosing winning projects under each theme, and selecting the wining individual or teams and projects.
4. Confirmation of Approval
  • Representatives of the steering committee will review all submissions. Applicants shall receive notification e-mails that identify the status of their applications eight days after the submission deadline; unsuccessful applicants shall receive apology letters. Receiving a confirmation of approval does not imply winning an award, but is an official acceptance of the applicant(s) as a competitor(s) for the award(s).
5. Working Guidelines
  • Students can work on projects as individuals or as part of a team.
  • Teams should be made up of two to three students, and each team must assign a team leader who will be acting as a focal point, and has the following responsibilities:

  • - Check his/her email regularly.
    - Respond to all inquiries directed to the team from the Advisory Committee.
    - Ensure that all deadlines are met and submissions are complete.
    - Coordinate work between team members.
    - Attend meetings upon request and keep team members updated about meetings results.
  • Each team must have a faculty supervisor who will act as a guide and advisor to the team.
6. Follow up & Reporting
  • Selected students are required to show commitment towards sending progress reports on-time to the steering committee focal point, and to provide explanations and answers to incoming inquiries from the steering committee. Furthermore the Team leader is required to attend meetings, make a presentation about his team’s project, and prepare material upon the request of the steering committee.
  • Students are required to submit two reports on the following dates:

  • - First Progress Report: submitted by March 1.
    - Final Report: submitted by May 31.
7. Financial Support
  • All Students approved to participate in the AIA are eligible to request financial support.
  • The financial support will be approved and provided according to the steering committee feedback and recommendations based on the project’s Budget work plan and budget limitations.
  • Please be advised that the amount of financial support may or may not be equivalent to the full amount requested by the applicant.
8. Provision of Awards
  • Awards will be awarded in a form of cheque to the winning participants.
9. Media and Publicity
  • Abdali Investment and Development Company has exclusive rights to publicize and market the event and all its activities in all forms of media.
  • Abdali Investment and Development Company has the right to publicize and market participant students projects in all forms of media.
  • Students may be required to conduct interviews with the media (television newspaper, magazine, etc.)
  • Any individual/team/participant in the AIA that will conduct media related or publicity related activities must obtain prior approval from the Abdali Investment and Development Company marketing department and receive the proper media material.
10. Ownership of Projects
  • Ownership of the project belongs to the students, however Abdali Investment and Development Company has the right to utilize the work for any form of publicity and marketing.
11. Awards
  • Six thematic cash awards of 2,500JD value each will be given to the winning projects, one under each main theme.
  • One cash award of 1,000JD will be dedicated to the most innovative and outstanding project under the open theme.
  • A distinction innovation award In the amount of 10,000JD will be dedicated to outstanding creative thought shown in one of the 7 submitted projects that meet the predefined criteria developed by the Steering Committee.
12. Disqualifications
  • If the steering and/or judging committee suspects that any student/s project’s concept or proposal is plagiarized from another source, then students are required to provide a detailed and convenient justification regarding this issue, and if students failed to meet this requirement this project will immediately be disqualified.
